VietKnowledge NZ collects information needed to operate this community platform, protect members and provide requested services. We do not sell personal information.
1. Who is responsible
VietKnowledge NZ operates vietknowledge.nz in Aotearoa New Zealand. For privacy questions or requests, email info@vietknowledge.nz.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: display name, email address, language, verification status and security settings.
- When using Facebook Login: your Facebook user identifier, name and email address provided by Facebook with your permission. We do not request your friends list, posts or Facebook password.
- When using Google Sign-In: your Google account identifier, name, verified email and basic profile information provided with your permission. We do not request your password, Google Drive files, contacts or Google email content.
- Content and activity: marketplace listings, replies, reports, contact enquiries, event registrations and newsletter choices.
- Technical and safety information: IP address, access times, sign-in sessions, error logs and audit records needed for security and troubleshooting.
3. How we collect information
Information is collected directly from you, automatically when you use the service, or from Facebook when you choose Facebook Login. Facebook’s permission screen identifies the information shared before you continue.
4. How we use information
- Create, verify and manage member accounts.
- Provide secure registration and sign-in through Facebook or email.
- Deliver events, content, marketplace, forms and member features.
- Moderate content, prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and protect community safety.
- Communicate about accounts, support requests, service changes and newsletters where you have consented.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce platform rules.
5. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by necessary providers such as website hosting, email, backup and security services, and Meta when you use Facebook Login. We may also provide information where required by law or where necessary to address serious threats, fraud or abuse.
6. Processing outside New Zealand
Some providers, including Meta, may process information in other countries. Where applicable, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas processing or disclosure is handled consistently with New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 requirements.
7. Storage and security
We use safeguards including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, session protection, audit logging and controlled backups. No online system is completely risk-free.
8. Retention
We retain information while an account is active and for as long as needed to provide services, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, maintain audit records and meet legal obligations. Information is then securely deleted or anonymised where practicable.
9. Your rights
You may ask whether we hold information about you, request access or correction, withdraw marketing choices, or request account deletion. Some information may need to be retained for legal, safety or fraud-prevention reasons.
10. Facebook Login and Google Sign-In
Removing VietKnowledge NZ under Facebook Apps and Websites stops future Facebook access but does not automatically erase information already held by VietKnowledge NZ. To remove that information, follow our data deletion instructions.
You may revoke VietKnowledge NZ access through your Google Account security page. Revocation prevents future Google access but does not automatically delete information held by VietKnowledge NZ; use our data deletion instructions for that request.
11. Children
The service is not designed for children to create accounts without appropriate parent or guardian consent or supervision. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information inappropriately.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as services or legal requirements change. The revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
